The Benchmade 391T SOCP is a folding training knife without a cutting edge or sharp tip, designed for safe and realistic knife fighting training.
The knife was designed by Greg Thompson, the creator of the S.O.C.P. program, a combat system used by US Army special forces.
The 113 mm long blade is made of hard and durable D2 tool steel hardened to 60-62 HRC. The training knife lacks combat properties, meaning that it does not have a sharpened cutting edge or a sharp point. Thanks to this design, the knife is a safe training tool, while retaining the identical weight and functionality of the tactical version. The red color increases safety because it allows for quick verification of the knife.
A symmetrical disk on the spine of the blade allows for deployment of the blade, making the knife suitable for both left- and right-handed users. The size of the disk and its convenient location make it possible to deploy the blade while wearing gloves.
The knife is equipped with Benchmade's flagship lock, the Axis-lock mechanism, valued for its high resistance to dynamic loads, insensitivity to dirt and ease of use. The durability and rigidity of the knife's construction are ensured by full steel liners of increased thickness.
The knife has profiled liners made of CF-Elite (carbon fiber reinforced nylon), which is much lighter and stiffer than, for example, G10 laminate. The finger groove and deep milling on the liners ensure a firm grip on the knife and effectively emphasize its tactical character.
A high-mounted clip with the option of switching to the other side allows for discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket.
