The folding knife Walther EDK 2 is a modernized version of the successful EDK design, which, thanks to its versatile design and the use of a slipjoint lock, is an extremely universal model that is perfect for everyday use. The use of 440C steel translates into good sharpness retention while ensuring very high corrosion resistance, which we will appreciate during long-term use of the model.
The blade is folded using a pin, which allows us to open it with the thumb of one hand. When unfolded, the blade is locked with a slip joint mechanism. When the blade is unfolded, the dorsal spring acts as a lock, resting against the back of the blade and thus preventing it from folding. This solution is valued for its simplicity, reliability and resistance to heavy loads. This classic solution has been used for decades, for example in pocket knives, and can be legally carried in most EU countries.
The 90 mm blade, which has been extended in the new version, is made of 440C stainless steel hardened to 59 HRC. Wear and corrosion resistance, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening make the 440C steel blade ideal for everyday use. It is worth emphasizing that a pocket-sized ceramic sharpener is sufficient for sharpening such steel. The blade is finished with a satinizing (polishing) technique, which eliminates light reflections and masks scratches caused by using the knife. The blade with a drop-point profile has a flat grind, a strong point and a cutting edge with a gentle curvature, thanks to which the knife provides good cutting properties and high penetration.
