The Walther AFW 2 is a compact folding knife from the Adventure Folder Wood series, created for outdoor enthusiasts and people looking for affordable tools made of good quality materials. The Walther AFW 2 has a unique design that effectively combines modernity, classic style and great functionality.
The 71 mm blade is made of Japanese AUS 8 stainless steel. The properties of this steel are similar to 440C (including increased carbon content), thanks to which it is hardened to a hardness of 57-59 HRC. Wear and corrosion resistance, good retention (sharpness retention) and sharpening speed make the AUS-8 steel knife perfect for outdoor conditions and everyday use. We do not need an advanced sharpener to sharpen AUS-8 steel, a universal tourist sharpener, e.g. Lansky BladeMedic, is sufficient. The blade is finished with a satin finish (polishing) which eliminates light reflections and gives it a classic look. The long blade with a functional clip-point profile has a high hollow grind, a robust tip and a cutting edge with a gentle curvature of the belly, which gives the knife good cutting properties and high penetration.
With the Walther AFW 2, you can quickly open the blade with one hand by using your thumb to pull the thumb disc on the back of the knife. This method is suitable for both right- and left-handed users.
When the blade is opened, it is locked with a back-lock mechanism. When the blade is opened, the lock located on the back of the knife falls into the notch at the back of the blade. To release the locking mechanism, press the bar visible in the handle notch.
The knife has elegant walnut wood covers with a matte finish. The covers have a contoured shape with a distinct finger cut-out, which effectively improves the grip and comfort of use. The knife handle is reinforced with solid steel liners (inserts to which the covers are attached). We can carry the knife in a leather pouch on our belt (with a press stud fastener) and a high-set steel clip (one-sided).
