The folding knife Walther EDK is a budget version of the Walther MME (Messermagazin-Edition) knife, which was produced in a limited edition of 100 pieces. The German magazine “Messermagazin” organized a competition for its readers to design a new everyday knife. The readers chose the design by Simon Telpl. This is how the Walther MME (Messermagazin-Edition) knife was created as a limited edition of only 100 pieces.
The 75 mm long blade is made of 440C stainless steel hardened to 59 HRC. Wear and corrosion resistance, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening make the 440C steel blade ideal for everyday use. It is worth emphasizing that a pocket-sized ceramic sharpener is sufficient for sharpening such steel. The blade is finished with a satin finish (polishing) technique, which eliminates light reflections and masks scratches caused by using the knife. The blade with a drop point profile has a flat grind, a strong cutting edge and a cutting edge with a gentle curvature, thanks to which the knife provides good cutting properties and high penetration.
The blade is deployed with two hands, using a nail cut-out. This classic solution has been used for decades in pocket knives and other tools and is legal to carry in most EU countries. Thanks to the universal mandrel, we can easily adjust the smoothness of the blade extension. Precise knife handling is facilitated by the milling cutters on the back of the blade, which allow the thumb to rest stably.
The blade is locked in the open position with a liner lock. When the blade is open, a spring-loaded lining presses against the back of the blade and prevents it from closing. The liner lock is valued for its simplicity, reliability and high load capacity.
