The Benchmade 15002 HUNT is a large fixed blade knife with a full tang. Knives made from a single piece of steel (full tang) are resistant to damage and breakage, which is why they are commonly used for heavier tasks by hunters, survival and bushcraft enthusiasts, and soldiers.
The knife has a fixed blade with a length of 107 mm, made of American CPM-S30V stainless steel. S30V powder steel by Crucible Industries is hardened to an optimal hardness of 58-60 HRC, which ensures a long-lasting sharpness, mechanical strength and corrosion resistance.
Due to the high vanadium carbide content, the steel is characterized by high impact strength and abrasion resistance as well as excellent cutting properties. Therefore, due to the high hardness and the specific properties of CPM-S30V steel, we recommend using diamond whetstones for sharpening.
When choosing a hard steel knife, you should get a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very laborious and inefficient.
The wedge has a matte finish using the stonewashed method, which effectively masks any scratches or wear to the blade caused by use.
The wide flat-ground blade has a distinctly rounded belly, which, in combination with the practical drop point profile, ensures excellent cutting performance and high resistance to damage.
The back and front of the spine have been cross-milled to form a stable support point for the fingers. This simple feature allows for comfortable and precise handling of the knife, which is crucial for the hunter when gutting game.
The larger blade size and 3 mm thick blade mean that the Benchmade 15002 Hunt can also be used for other outdoor activities, such as bushcraft and survival.
The element that is responsible for the comfort of using the knife is, of course, its handle. The knife has stylish stabilized wood linings attached to the shaft with screws. During processing, stabilized wood is soaked in resin, which ensures better material stability, high hardness, resistance to water, changes in humidity and temperature, as well as the effects of many solvents and acids.
The handle has a beautiful brown-black grain, which perfectly emphasizes the hunting character of the knife. The profiled shape of the handle and the scaly ribbing of the dorsal part of the shank guarantee a stable grip of the knife. At the back of the handle there is a hole for a thong or paracord.
A sheath made of genuine leather with a metal clasp is used to safely carry the knife on the belt.
